A Few Insider Tips For Visiting Hawaii

A trip to Hawaii is one that you will definitely never forget. Its natural beauty is unmatched anywhere else in the world. It has beautiful scenery, culture, and people. If you’ve never been to Hawaii, make it a priority to get there as soon as possible. There are many features that make Hawaii a unique destination.

Probably the most famous feature of the Hawaiian Islands is the numerous volcanoes that found there. Volcanoes are what caused the formation of the islands in the first place and they are a big part of what makes them special today. Kilauea is by far the most active of all the volcanoes. It has basically been erupting a little bit every day for the better part of twenty years. Watching the lava hit the ocean is an interesting experience in itself. The two extreme temperatures meeting cause steam to rise up high above the water. The rapid cooling of the lava forms rocks and they break into many pieces. This is something you’ll definitely want to check out while in Hawaii.

The volcanoes also contribute to another well-known feature of Hawaii. The black sand beaches that cover the big island are a one-of-a-kind sight. Many destinations brag about their white sandy beaches, but Hawaii has the exact opposite. It is something that you must see to believe.

Other beautiful sights in Hawaii are the amazing waterfalls. Akaka Falls is a state park that you can observe a 442-foot high waterfall. The water cascading over the falls presents a relaxing atmosphere. You can view the falls from multiple places inside the park.

Hawaii also offers world-class accommodations for every traveler. On the island of Oahu, there are over 30,000 hotel rooms. This obviously presents you with a multitude of choices. You can choose between resorts, bed and breakfasts, or a private villa.

There really isn’t a bad time of year to plan your trip either. The weather is virtually perfect year-round. In the winter it is a little cooler, but it can still be 80 degrees. During the summer, it may get up in the high 80’s and low 90’s. However, the ocean breeze keeps it comfortable on most days.

When you’re ready to travel to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, get ready to have fun. You’ll want to go back again and again. Be sure to find a place that fits your needs and is within your price range.

Koa Wood - A Popular Material In Today's Hawaiian Jewelry

Koa wood is recognized as one of the finest textured woods in the world and is prized for its rich colors and beautiful patterns. Koa is part of the Acacia family of trees and is the most valued native tree. The Koa is endemic to Hawaii – exists naturally no where else in the world, they can be found on the islands of Hawaii, Maui, and Oahu. The best Koa can be found specifically on higher elevations of the Big Island and take 50 to 70 years to mature.

Koa is the Hawaiian word for “warrior” and “courage”. In ancient Hawaii, Koa wood was harvested exclusively for the Alii class (royalty) and others of high social status. Its trunk was used to build sea-faring canoes, sculpted images of god, and personal containers. The reddish wood has maintained its popularity in the local culture and is highly prized for use in wood carvings, musical instruments, and furniture. Koa, a tonewood, is often used in the construction of the ukulele and the weissenborn-style Hawaiian steel guitar.

Koa is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful tropical hardwoods. It is a moderately heavy wood; stable, and works well with oils, varnish or lacquer as it takes on an exceptionally rich, deeply reflective glow. Koa was known as the Hawaiian Mahogany and used extensively by the upper class and government buildings for furniture, staircases, and other woodworks. The state of Hawaii has issued restrictions on the harvesting of these trees as reforestation projects continue to be implemented. Although supply is limited, koa is even more desirable in Hawaii for upscale furniture, ukulele, and woodworks. This beautiful wood has also gained popularity in jewelry as the deep rich color and glow matches perfectly with pearls, silver, and many other materials. Next time when you purchase a new piece of jewelry to add to your collections, you should consider adding one that is made up of Hawaii Koa wood.

Say "Aloha!" to Smoking on Hawaii

Japanese tourists are assured that they still can smoke on the Hawaii islands that are considered to be the most popular place for rest of the middle class people from the country of the rising sun.

This advertising activity, - which is, to say honestly, rather unusual for general politics of USA, - is dedicated to smoking of tobacco products on the islands and is supported by the authorities of this American state.

It should be mentioned that the prohibition of smoking in the bunged public places was introduced last year on Hawaii. In spite of the fact that Hawaiian tour operators stressed very often the fact that smoking was not forbidden at all but was just restrained for the territory of the bunged bars, restaurants, cafés and state institutions, some Japanese mass media resources hurried to inform that smoking on islands was completely forbidden, and this mistake costs much for Hawaii.

The thing is that this state lives on the expense of the inflow of the tourists, and a big number of them are the citizens of the country of the rising sun, and the majority of Japanese people are known as being inveterate smokers.

As a result the number of Japanese tourists on Hawaii has rolled of a lot lately, and the tour agency that is specialized in marketing in Japan and that is working under the aegis of the state authorities announced an advertising campaign with the motto "smoke with Aloha". In the Hawaiian language this word has a lot of meanings - passion, love, peace, compassion, mercy, farewell and greeting, but usually it is used instead of “Hello” in the dialogue with the tourists.
It is used also in relation to the whole Hawaii state that is often called the "Aloha state".

Why You And Your Family Should Plan A Hawaii Vacation

Each year, millions of American families hit the road or hit the skies. Those families are likely taking a family vacation. Are you or your family interested in becoming one of those families? If so, have you decided on your family vacation destination yet? If you have yet to decide on a vacation destination, you may want to think about taking a Hawaii vacation. You will likely find that Hawaii is an amazing place to get away; it has activities and attractions that are geared towards individuals of all ages.

As previously mentioned, Hawaii has attractions and activities that are geared towards individuals of all different ages. That is just one of the many reason why you and your family should give a Hawaii vacation some serious thought. Whether you are traveling with young children, teenagers, or both, it may be difficult to choose a vacation destination that offers fun filled activities for everyone. With a Hawaii vacation, you will not have that problem. That is because there are an unlimited number of activities and attractions for you to choose from, many of which are perfect for both the young and old alike.

Another reason why a Hawaii vacation may be perfect for your family is because of the weather. As you might expect, the weather in Hawaii does vary from time to time, but, for the most part, it tends to stay consistent. During the summer months you can expect the temperatures to be in the mid to upper eighties and in the winter time, the temperatures are typically in the mid to lower seventies. Essentially, this means that whenever you travel to Hawaii, you should be greeted with perfect temperatures. You will find that even during the summer months, Hawaii’s weather is just perfect. It isn’t too hot, but it isn’t too cold. The temperature, as well as the overall weather, found in Hawaii makes it the perfect vacation destination for any family vacation.

It may also be a good idea to schedule your next family vacation in Hawaii because of everything that you and your children will get to see. While Hawaii is still considered a part of the United States, it is detached from the rest of the country. This is what makes Hawaii unique. While still technically staying in the country, your children will get to experience travel; travel that they may never have experienced before. No matter if you are flying from New York or California, the fact that you are flying over the ocean, to get to Hawaii, may make it seem as if you are traveling to a whole other part of the world. This is something that your children, no matter what their ages, may find absolutely exciting.

The choices that you have are another reason why you and your family should choose a Hawaii vacation. Hawaii is composed of numerous islands, many of which are popular vacation destinations. Whether you choose to visit Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, or Big Island, you are sure to find everything that you wanted to find. In addition to the island choices, you will also find that you have a number of others choices, including where you wish to stay. Hawaii is not only full of traditional hotels, but it is also filled with resorts and vacation homes. Whether you are looking for a centralized location, such as a hotel or a resort, or someplace scheduled, as most vacation rental homes are, you will be able to find what you are looking for in Hawaii.

As you should easily be able to see, Hawaii is the perfect place to spend your next family vacation. The above mentioned reasons, as to why your next family vacation should be a Hawaii vacation, are just a few of the many that exist. As stated above, no matter what you want, need, or desire, you are sure to find it Hawaii.

Hawaii: Where Romance Meets Recreation

The lush and accommodating volcanic formed Hawaiian Islands offer an enchanting Pacific, Polynesian paradise for travelers worldwide. The main islands of Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii and Maui, steeped in history and tradition, are temperate and comfortable year-round, as would be expected from their tropical or sub-tropical locale. Travelers arrive by air and ship to celebrate the fascinating Hawaiian heritage.

The island natives have a rich culture based on an ancient Polynesian belief system. The islands are rich with legends, mythology, gods and goddesses. Long ago, island natives planned fishing, planting, harvesting and farming on moon patterns, using the Hawaiian moon calendar. Another traditional practice is the Kumulipo, or song of creation, an ancient chant recited by kahunas, or priests, at important festivals or events to explain the origin of the Hawaiian people.

While traveling, visitors can enjoy authentic Hula and Fire dancing, Tiki parties and luaus, an island tradition gathering large groups of friends and neighbors for a night of dancing, feasting and extravagant entertainment. To ensure luau accommodations, book space well in advance of your arrival on the islands as the most popular events sell out quickly.

Hawaii offers some of the most sought-after surfing conditions in the world. Whether you prefer to watch, learn or participate in the action, the islands’ warm, turquoise waters and massive summertime swells are sure to make a big splash.

Offshore, whale and dolphin watching bring tourists side-by-side with the natural, breathtaking underwater world. Humpback whales seasonally migrate December through April, while the nearby Pacific depths are home to many other spectacular breeds year-round. Hawaii also hosts various dolphin breeds, the bottleneck being the most popular. The Hilton Waikoloa Village’s Dolphin Quest lets visitors swim alongside many well-trained, aquatic mammals. As with all events, advance booking ensures space.

Local cuisine blends the rich tastes of the Pacific Rim, classic American and European favorites for dishes from luscious seafood and fresh vegetables, to tangy fruits and select sauces. Island restaurants serve tastes from as far off as Vietnam, India and Thailand. Feast on abobo (braised pork or chicken), poi and laulau (taro leaves wrapped around pork or chicken and baked to perfection) and mochi (a sinful rice cake). Island-grown grapes flavor select wines while micro-brewed beers offer ideal complement to your meal.

Shade Gardening Tips From Hawaii

If you’re a first time gardener, or you’ve inherited your garden along with your house, then you’ll probably not have noticed that your garden has a shaded area. Believe me it will have a shaded space somewhere, even if it is in the very corner of the yard. That’s why you’ll need to be doing shade gardening this year. Executed properly, your shade garden can take you through for a long time.

If you find the shade in your garden is due to a tree or trees, even if it is your neighbor’s tree, you’ll find that the soil will be dry and full of roots. Planting may be difficult and you may have to improve the soil slightly before anything will grow. Be careful when doing this as some trees, like Oak, are very particular, and can be extremely sensitive to changes in soil depth. Also, if you have to till the soil around the roots, you’ll again need to be very careful as root breakage may occur and the tree might be damaged in the long term. No one ever said shade gardening was going to be easy!

If you already have a small lake or pond in your garden, or even a little winding stream, your water gardening efforts just became that much easier. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of homeowners, such a bonus is just not on the cards, so you’ll have to build your water garden from scratch.

When choosing your plants, you’ll have to keep in mind the conditions that are likely to be prevalent within your shaded area. Low, dappled sunlight, to perhaps no sun at all, or perhaps sun at only certain times of the day. Limited water in the soil due to an extensive root system, poor air circulation caused by low lying branches, or intrusive walls. These are only some of the conditions you’ll have to deal with when shade gardening.

Having passed through the more serious parts of shade gardening, we can now move on to the more fun parts. Namely designing, and laying out your garden, and buying your plants!

Since plants that thrive in the shade aren’t as vivid and bright as plants that grow in full sunlight, it’s best if you lean more towards flowers with pastel shades, as darker colors will only tend to blend into the background.

Foxgloves are a favorite, as are Daisy’s, and Begonias. Bluebells and Forget-me-nots are also some true blue favorites. If you plan your shade gardening carefully, you can have blooming flowers for almost the whole year.

Other plants to consider are groundcovers. Hostas, are traditionally a good groundcover plant, with its big leaves that tend to hug the ground. English ivy, Wintercreepers, and Ajuga are also very good for groundcover.

No matter what you decide upon, make sure that you enjoy shade gardening, and all the benefits it can bring to you, like the peace of mind and relaxation that you can get from the natural subdued colors offered by the shaded garden.

Hawaii Private Yacht Charters

ne of the often overlooked ways to enjoy a vacation to the Islands of Aloha is to charter a private yacht in Hawaii for an unforgettable cruise.

There are many options for boat rentals in Hawaii, but they are typically old, rusty tubs that are jam packed with tourists. Not exactly the best way to enjoy a vacation in paradise.

Luckily, there is an alternative. There are a number of luxury yachts in Hawaii (especially on the island of Oahu) that can take you for a private cruise far away from the sunburned hordes. Once the exclusive domain of the super rich, luxury boats can now be rented by the hour for a lot less money than you might think.

There is a large range of yachts available for charter ranging from luxury sail boats to vintage motor yachts. A yacht charter broker can help you find the perfect boat to meet your needs, based on the size of your group, your budget and what you would like to do. Some luxury boats book months in advance, so don't wait until you are in Hawaii to book your charter or your boat may alreaddy be booked. Typically, one half of the total charter price is required to reserve a yacht charter.

When you book a private yacht charter, you're the boss. The departure time and itinerary are completely up to you. Plan your own sightseeing charters, Hawaii sunset cruise or even a private Hawaii dinner cruise with a private chef. Most boats have a two hour charter minimum, which is about the right amount of time for most people. If you are a seasoned sailor or want to enjoy a more leisurely dinner cruise, book your boat for a three hour charter. With a little imagination you can create an adventure that will be one of the most memorable highlights of your vacation in Hawaii.

For a real adventure you can book a an inter-island cruise. The tradewinds in Hawaii generally blow from east to west, so this is the preferred direction to travel for the smoothest sailing. As a rule of thumb, it takes about 12 hours to travel between neighboring islands; from Big Island to Maui, Maui to Oahu, and Oahu to Kauai. The Maui to Oahu yacht charter journey is the best, as it is smooth sailing and can travel (upon your specification) down the dramatic north shore of Molokai. This unpopulated shoreline features the tallest sea cliffs in the world, with lush valleys and waterfalls flowing into the sea. A true unspoiled paradise.

Yachts have also become increasingly popular as a location for a destination wedding in Hawaii. Wedding ceremonies and receptions can be held on luxury boats for a unique venue option. A private charter provides an unforgettable alternative to the hotel banquet room routine, and the largest boats can accomodate up to eighty passengers. The shared experience of being together on a unique, private charter is a great way for people to bond with each other away from the tourist crowds, traffic and towering hotels.

Vacations are all about creating lasting memories. For a little extra money and imagination you can experience the beautiful waters of Hawaii away from the crowds and have another great story to tell when you get back home.

Those islands are the Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu, Kauai, and Maui. While they are similar in many ways, they are also different. That is one of the reasons why Hawaii is a great place to live, because you are given a number of different choices.

Oahu is most well-known for being home to Honolulu, one of Hawaii most popular cites. If you are interested in residing in Oahu, you will find that you are not alone. The Oahu real estate market is literally booming. This is because a large number of individuals reside here and each year many more make the decision to move there. In fact, Oahu is often referred to as “The Gathering Place.”

The Kauai real estate market often tends to focus on vacationers looking for summer rentals; however, it also focuses on those looking to become local residents. One of the reasons why Kauai is an amazing place to live is due to its beauty and scenic landscape. Portions of the island are consumed with cannons and waterfalls. Many Kauai real estate properties are considered breathtaking. That is why the area is not only a popular vacation destination, but a great place to live.

The Big Island of Hawaii is, perhaps, one of the most well-known islands. This is due to its size. Big Island is known as the largest of all Hawaiian Islands. In addition to being known for its size, Big Island is also well-known for its scenic volcanoes and tourism. As with other islands, the Big Island real estate market has seen an increase in recent years. Being a large island, Big Island offers a large number of real estate properties. In as an area as popular as Big Island, more real estate properties, to many, often means a better chance of securing a Hawaii home.

While the Big Island, Kauai, Maui, and Oahu real estate markets have all seen increases, it is almost nothing compared the Maui real estate market. It has been noted, on numerous different occasions, that Maui is expanding in more ways than one. Not only has the population expanded, but the economy has as well. Like Kauai, Maui is also considered a popular vacation destination. The steady flow of vacationers has also led to an increase in local residents. As with many other Hawaiian islands, once vacationers get a taste of Maui, many do not want to return home.

As previously mentioned, Big Island, Oahu, Maui, and Kauai are just a few of the Hawaiian Islands; however, they are often considered the most popular. Whether you decide to reside on one of these islands or another, one thing is for sure, you will not regret your decision. With beauty, privacy, tropical weather, and an unlimited number of exciting, year round activities, who wouldn’t enjoy living in Hawaii?

Diamond Head Crater In Hawaii

There will no be a shortage of things to do if you are a tourist on vacation in Hawaii as there are many world class tourist attractions in the island paradise of Hawaii. You can take cruises to go island hopping, helicopter tours to view Hawaii's famous landscapes and volcanoes, go whale watching, try scuba diving or even big game fishing as the list goes on.

However, one of the healthiest vacation activities you can participate in Hawaii is to take a hike up the Diamond Head Crater. Any tourist in Hawaii will tell you that tracking up Diamond Head Crater is an exhilarating and memorable experience.

The Diamond Head Crater is in Waikiki. It is an extinct volcano and is more than 3,500 feet in diameter with a 760 ft high summit. The crater is perhaps the world's most visited volcanic crater. It is the lasting remnant of a volcano explosion that took place some half a million years ago. The Diamond Head Crater attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is one of Hawaii's most recognized and popular tourist attractions.

The ancient Hawaiians called the crater 'Laeahi', and when translated means 'brow of the tuna'. The name 'Diamond Head' was coined some two to three centuries ago when British sailors thought that there were diamonds lodged in the crater. The "diamonds" are actually calcite crystals embedded in the lava rocks.

Diamond Head Crater trekking is considered a moderate climb and if you are reasonably fit and healthy, it will only take you only about an hour to reach the crater's peak and about half of that time to get to the foot on your downhill trek.

The trekking trail climbs the inside slope of Diamond Head Crater for about half a mile and is a trail with the mountain on one side and a railing on the other. After a sightseeing vantage point that doubles as a rest stop, the trail takes a steep upward ascent through a labyrinth of tunnels and staircases. The final climb is a staircase of 99 steps and you should be able to tackle it easily if you are reasonably fit. If not, just take the climb slow and steady.

This staircases will lead you to a World War II pillbox bunker. From here, you can have clear view of the spectacular Oahu island.

Standing at top lookout vantage point, viewing Oahu's entire leeward side, feeling the cool winds blowing and hearing waves crashing on the shore far below, is an experience all nature loving tourists will enjoy. Just don't forget to take some photographs for souvenir though.

Peak hours to trek up the Diamond Head Crater starts from 6 am and end at 6pm. Just be forewarned that it can get pretty crowded during peak hours especially during the vacation holiday seasons.

As a general guide, do get up from bed early in the morning and start your hike before the peak hours start if you want to avoid crowds. Do remember to along your water bottle, slap on some sunscreen to avoid sunburn for the midday heat can get pretty fierce during summer months.

How To Get A Family Package On Hawaii Vacation

Hawaii is a dream spot for any family vacation. Beautiful sandy beaches with playful waves that crash against the shore, vibrant, green forests, hidden waterfalls, and fiery lava flows all await tourists daily.

Most activities that tourists can participate in are not only invigorating and fun but they also connect vacationers with nature. Snorkeling, whale watching, surfing, and swimming with the dolphins, are just some of the recreations your family can enjoy.

But how can you find the right Hawaii family vacation package for you?

First you need to determine what your budget is. Secondly, you will want to plan the activities and tours you and your family are most interested in. Afterward, look for a traveling agency that can help you find the vacation package that suits your needs.

Many travel agencies are especially designed for vacationing families and they sometimes offer a 50% on your second hotel accommodation. Also, daily breakfast buffets and special children’s menus are perks you can benefit from if you book a trip to Hawaii through a travel agent.

There are several relaxing activities for adults, ranging from on-site food, beverages, spa, and massages, to sports like golf and tennis. And all with the backdrop of a tropical island!

Here are some of the must-see tourist spots in Hawaii:

1. The USS Arizona Memorial is a favorite for tourists; however, it is also busy and if families opt to check it out, they are advised to do so in the morning hours so as to secure a space on the ferry ride.

2. Dole Pineapple Plantation is another popular attraction. You and your family can take a narrated train ride through the pineapple fields. The plantation is considered one of the world’s largest mazes. This is a very edifying experience, as it shows how crops are traditionally grown on the island.

3. Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve is Hawaii’s most famous place to snorkel. It is essentially a sunken volcanic crater and a former playground of Hawaiian royalties! The rainbow of reefs and colorful schools of fish and other sea life will amuse your family for hours and hours.

4. For a stroll along the beach, during the day or night, Waikiki is a famous two-mile stretch of land.

5. The Diamond Head Crater is a distinctive natural landmark and is a steep, but short, trail that leads hikers to the crater summit, which has a spectacular 360-degree view of Honolulu and the coast. The US army built the amazing trail in 1906.

6. The Polynesian Cultural Center celebrates the people and culture of the Polynesian islands, which include Hawaii, Tonga, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Marquesas Islands. It merges entertainment and education, as visitors are treated to the music, dance, food, clothing, shelter, arts and crafts, and beliefs of the Polynesian people.

7. Shop and dine at the Ala Moana Center. It has over 240 stores, some indoors and other outdoors.

Good luck and enjoy your Hawaiian getaway!

Planning A Kauai Hawaii Wedding

Planning a Kauai wedding, especially if you do not live in the area will take a lot of patience and time. However, with the following tips it can certainly be done and done well.

Kauai Wedding Tip #1 Mail
Make a detailed list before you begin packing that outlines every possible thing you might need or want for your vacation and your wedding. Don't forget anything that cannot be purchased on Kauai or in an airport because although it is said there is overnight mail, there really is not, so don't forget your wedding dress, rings, or anything of that nature because it will take at least two days to get to you. However, if you make a detailed list then packing will be easy and you will remember everything. Having everything with you will make your wedding go much smoother and reduce your stress level and you won't have to worry about the mail.

Kauai Wedding Tip #2 Pre-Trip Fitting
Before you hop on the plane with all of your wedding wares, make sure you stop one last time at the bridal shop for a very last fitting. You want to make sure your dress is perfect, and fits perfect as well, so stopping by and having any last alterations done just before you travel to the beautiful island of Kauai will reduce the risk of the dress being too big, too small, too long, or any other number of problems that could potentially arise. Knowing your dress is perfect will make you anticipate the wedding with even more excitement as well.

Kauai Wedding Tip #3 Accessories
Remember the tips about not forgetting anything and having an additional fitting? Well, while you are on the remembering kick and at the fitting appointment you should pick up some additional pairs of stockings, garter belts, any extras that you might possibly need. The truth of the matter is that stockings frequently rip when the nervous bride is trying to put them on, so having an extra pair in the right size and color is a great option and will save any additional stress. Additional pairs of everything is not realistic, but those little things that have a high potential of breaking, ripping, or causing a last minute stress situation should be considered and planned for.

Kauai Wedding Tip #4 The Details
When booking a wedding location in Kauai make sure you ask more questions than if the location is available and how much it charges. The reason for this is you could arrive and plan on your entire wedding being pink themed and the location is a bright red. Nobody wants their wedding location to clash with their colors, so ask about the details of every location you inquire about. Then, when making your decisions you will be informed and know what to expect. Also, consider ministers, size of the location, and the like. You will be glad you paid attention to the details.

Kauai Wedding Tip #5 Tuxedos
The groom and his attendants should all rent their tuxedos in their hometown where they can be fitted and order the desired tuxedos in the right sizes with the right accessories. By taking care of this the groom and his attendants can arrive in Kauai and enjoy the pre-wedding activities knowing their tuxedo fits, has all the accessories, and is waiting for the wedding day.

Kauai Wedding Tip #6 Jet Lag
Many individuals do not allow enough time between their arrival and the actual wedding day and end up jet lagged, exhausted, and completely unable to enjoy the beauty of the island, it's many offerings, not to mention the wedding day. Weddings are stressful and busy events and jet lag only increases these elements. So, plan your arrival several days before the wedding so you can settle in, enjoy the island, handle any last minute details and rest up before the big day.

Kauai Wedding Tip #7 Relax!
The island is absolutely beautiful and a very relaxing place to be. Since the wedding day is so busy and stressful it is important for the bride and groom to slip away the day before the wedding for several hours to simply relax and enjoy being in such a fabulous location to exchange vows. The bride and groom can relax, take pleasure in the island, and really benefit from some relaxation before the big day!

Kauai Wedding Tip #8 Talk to the Minister
Before the wedding day the bride and groom should meet with the minister to make sure the minister's vows are appropriate for the wedding and convey the sentiments the bride and groom wish to convey on their wedding day. Additionally, if the bride and groom have written their own vows this is a good time to make the minister aware and go over any last details. Also, meeting the minister before the wedding will make everyone more comfortable and the ceremony more sincere.

Kauai Wedding Tip #9 Date
Remember before planning your wedding date and mailing invitations with that particular date for your Kauai wedding to have the minister, location, hotels and everything booked so you know 100% that your wedding has all the elements necessary and all are available. During the summer months, which are popular wedding months, hotels and event locations are booked up solid, so if you don't plan ahead by many months you may find yourself with a wedding planned for a specific date, but no chapel, hotel room, or anything else to accommodate the wedding or guests.

Kauai Wedding Tip #10 Packing
After you make the list of things to pack, revise the list again, and again. This way you will remember anything that might have been forgotten and will give you time to buy any of the necessities and pack them. Also, when packing, check the items off your list so you know you have them and they have been packed. This will eliminate confusion as well as the event where you unpack everything to see if you did indeed remember to pack your garter belt or not. Make a list and check it off.

There are many Kauai wedding tips, but these are just a few that will help you plan your Kauai wedding and thoroughly enjoying becoming man and wife in one of the world's most beautiful locations.

Packing For Hawaii - How To Make The Most Of What’s In Your Suitcase

Making vacation plans for Hawaii probably has you searching all your favorite stores for the best tropical inspired clothing of the season, however packing for a Hawaiian vacation requires more than simply picking out tropical themed clothing. In fact, to properly pack for Hawaii you need to consider not only the weather, but the activities you will be participating in while you are there. This is where pre-planning comes into the picture. If you pre-plan activities you will have a better idea of what your vacation will entail and what you should pack than if you wait and decide when you arrive in Hawaii. Deciding to plan activities when you arrive in the islands will mean that you will over-pack and have a difficult time managing your bags not to mention deciding what to wear because you have too many options. Plan ahead, and follow these tips for packing for Hawaii.

Make a List

You have heard time and time again that making a list is the most productive way to accomplish anything because you keep track of what you need done as well as what has been done. The same goes with packing for Hawaii. You may have saved past lists from other vacations, and this is great because you can review the list for items you will need to pack for Hawaii. For example, the toiletries, medicines, and personal care items you need will be the same for most all vacations, just make sure sunscreen makes it onto the list. Once you have those items taken care of, then you should consider what you will be doing in Hawaii. Since the majority of Hawaii’s most amazing attractions from the beach to the gardens and canyons are outside, you will want to make sure you pack adequate comfortable clothing that will keep you cool in the warm climate, and that is also comfortable for walking, cycling and other physical activities.

Casual clothing like shorts, lightweight pants, skirts, tank tops, cotton polo shirts and the like are suitable for Hawaii because they are cool, comfortable and lightweight. Another tip for your clothing is to make sure it fits. If you pack ultra tight clothing or clothing that is simply too small you will be uncomfortable throughout the trip and if you sweat, which is very possible under the Hawaiian sun, you could end up with a bad rash. So, focus on comfortable, lightweight, fitting clothes for your daytime attire. If you plan on visiting the volcanoes or are cold natured you should include some light sweaters or jackets just in case it is cool.

You will also be visiting the beach, swimming pools, and waterfalls while you are in Hawaii, maybe even on a daily basis. Because of this, you also need to pack several bathing suits so that you can wash one a day and wear a different one. Nobody wants to wear wet bathing suits, or dirty bathing suits, so pack at least two. A cover up for women is essential as well, and men might choose to pack extra t-shirts if they need to cover up.

The sun is strong in Hawaii so be sure to pack several strengths of sunscreen even if you are planning on getting a great tan. The first few days apply a higher strength SPF and then after you have a base tan you can tone down the level of sunscreen you are using. The point of this is that if you avoid sunscreen you will more than likely get burned your first day out, which will ruin the rest of the week for tanning, be very painful, and negatively impact your vacation. By using sunscreen you will get a great tan, avoid the sunburn, and truly enjoy your Hawaiian vacation. Also, since the sun is bright you will want to make sure you pack sunglasses and a hat. Squinting is no way to enjoy your vacation, and a great pair of shades will help you relax and enjoy your beautiful Hawaiian vacation.

Consider the nightlife in Hawaii. Will you be attending a luau, an upscale restaurant, dances or parties? These are all considerations and will require different modes of dress. It is a lot easier to shop for your clothing before your vacation than spend precious vacation hours shopping in overpriced stores. If you need formal wear for several occasions, be sure to pack it properly to avoid wrinkles. You will be relieved to have just what you need to wear to every nightly function you attend. Remember, however, the islands are more laid back and the word “formal” is not taken in the same way as “formal” might be understood on the mainland. As a result, semi-formal will most likely work for the majority of Hawaiian events.

Shoes, what a difficult thing to pack! Everyone wants to pack a different pair of shoes for every outfit, and this simply will not work when trying to fill a small suitcase. As a result, choose one pair of shoes for water activities, one for athletic activities, and one or two for casual or dressed up activities. That way, you save space in your luggage and won’t be overburdened with choices.

Jewelry is another topic that you should consider before traveling to Hawaii. Many activities on the islands will require you leave your jewelry in the hotel, and in fact the hot weather simply is not conducive to a lot of jewelry. In addition, when you wear fine jewelry you will make yourself a target for theft and will need to increase security options. As a result, decide on some basic pieces of jewelry that will flatter all of your clothing and travel with those. You will feel more secure knowing your jewelry is safe at home than locked in a hotel safe.

Remember, this is not a comprehensive list of things to pack, just some simple suggestions to keep in mind when you pull out your suitcases and start trying to fill them with your entire closet. Be conservative and keep in mind that most condos and hotels have laundry services in case you need to do a load of laundry on vacation. Also, you will want to make a comprehensive list before you begin packing and review it for things that are truly unnecessary. Then, begin packing and rest easy knowing you will pack everything you need, but not over pack for the first time in your life. You will really enjoy Hawaii when you have the right clothes for every occasion, but not so many that it is a burden traveling.

The Cultural History of Hawaii

Hawaii is well known as a tourist destination, and every year vacationers travel from around the world to bask on the glorious beaches, enjoy the magnificent ocean views and observe the exotic plants and wildlife on the islands. This island state has many advantages as a tourist attraction, including miles and miles of beautiful coastline, a pleasant tropical climate and some of the most amazing scenery in the world. But in addition to all of these features, Hawaii also has a rich cultural heritage that is unique to this chain of islands. And while most tourists on vacation are exposed to a few aspects of Hawaiian culture during their stays, many people who travel to Hawaii miss out on a true understanding of Hawaii's cultural background. There is more to Hawaiian culture than the forms of traditional clothing and dance that are on display at popular tourist destinations. Learning about the cultural traditions of Hawaii can make your vacation experience more interesting and enriching.

It is believed that Hawaii was first settled by Polynesians some 1,500 years ago. Confirming the date of Hawaii's first settlement is very difficult, however, because no written records exist from that time period on the islands. Instead of a written history, the culture of Hawaii has a longstanding oral tradition that preserves its language, arts and other forms of cultural expression. Hawaii's cultural history has been passed from one generation to another, with elders teaching the younger generations about their past.

Over time, many aspects of Hawaiian culture have changed, including the system of government. Though now part of the United States, Hawaii was originally a kingdom. Yet the significance of Hawaii's traditional rulers is still commemorated. For example, a statue of King Kamehamea, regarded as the greatest of Hawaii's monarchs, is located on the Big Island. Also on the Big Island is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, a site with great cultural as well as geological significance. The park's name makes reference to the two volcanoes which can be found there, Kilauea and Mauna Loa. According to tradition, Kilauea is home to the goddess Pele, who causes the volcano's eruptions. Kilauea has been active since 1983, and the cultural importance of Kilauea is appropriate considering that the islands of Hawaii were originally formed through volcanic activity.

Because traditions are such an important feature of Hawaii's culture, there are individuals and organizations trying to prevent these traditions from fading away or being forgotten. Every spring, the Merrie Monarch Festival serves as a venue for displaying and promoting traditional Hawaiian art forms, especially traditional music and dance. Though it is a major draw for visitors, this festival is not simply a production geared toward tourists. Instead, the festival is part of the Hawaiian renaissance, an effort to keep Hawaii's traditions alive. If you plan to visit Hawaii for a vacation, keep in mind that the visit can be much richer and more vibrant if you take some time to learn about the islands cultural heritage before you go.

5 Things You Should Do on a Hawaii Vacation

Have you recently decided to vacation in Hawaii? If so, congratulations! You are well on your way to having a fun and exciting time. After all, there is a reason why Hawaii is known as one of the best vacation destinations in the world!

Although vacationing on a Hawaiian Island alone is enough to make your next vacation absolutely amazing, there are some additional steps that you may want to take. To maximize your next vacation and make it the best possible, please continue reading on for some helpful tips.

1 – Rent a Hawaii Vacation Rental

Yes, you can stay at one of the many available Hawaii hotels and resorts, but you may want to book a stay at a private Hawaii vacation rental. Why? There are a number of benefits to doing so. One of those benefits is privacy. With most vacation rentals, you and your traveling party are the only vacationers onsite. You also get many of the comforts of home, including a fully furnished kitchen where you are able to prepare your own meals!

What is nice about staying at a vacation rental, aside from the privacy is all of the choices that you have. Hawaiian vacation rentals are found on all of the popular islands and they come in a number of different formats. You can rent a Hawaii vacation home, cottage, villa, condo, or an apartment. With a number of great features, possibly including a dishwasher, washer, dryer, and a fully furnished kitchen, they are great for extended Hawaii vacations.

2 – Rent a Car

In addition to making reservations for a Hawaii vacation rental, you should also make reservations for a car rental. Yes, there is public transportation available in Hawaii, but there are a number of benefits to renting your own vehicle. These benefits include the freedom to come and go as you please, as well as privacy. You don’t have to worry about sharing a bus or a taxi with others.

Cars, as you know, come in a number of different makes and models. Whether you are traveling alone or with a large group, you should be able to find a rental car that is perfect for your needs. If you want to spend most of your trip to Hawaii out exploring and sightseeing, it may be in your best interest to rent a car that gets good gas mileage.

3 – Take a Hawaii Dinner Cruise

One of the reasons why Hawaii is a popular vacation destination is because of all of the activities you can enjoy. One activity that you will want to closely examine is that of a dinner cruise. Hawaii dinner cruises are popular and available on most of the Hawaiian Islands.

If you do decide to take a dinner cruise, examine those that can be considered multi-cruises. For example, can you sightsee or whale watch as well? Look for dinner cruises that advertise whale watching as an activity or choose a cruise that will take you to a beautiful destination, such as the Napali Coast on Kauai.

4 – Go Sightseeing

Whether you stay at a Hawaii vacation resort or a private vacation rental, you may find yourself not wanting to leave. With that said, Hawaii is a place that you should get out and explore. It doesn’t matter which Hawaiian island you choose to visit, there are a number of attractions that are commonly referred to as a sightseer’s dream.

On Big Island, you will find Mauna Kea, Waipio Valley, the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kauai, as previously stated, is home to the Napali Coast, as well as the Waimea Canyon and the Wailua River. When vacationing on Kauai, you can visit Pearl Harbor, the Iolani Palace, and visit Waikiki Beach. Maui is home to the Ioa Valley, the scenic Hana Highway, and the Haleakala Crater. For a large number of attractions that are often referred to as hidden treasures, visit the less popular islands of Molokai and Lanai.

5 – Learn to Surf

Hawaii, especially the island of Oahu is known for its pristine surfing conditions. Don’t know how to surf? That is fine. In fact, there is no better time to learn. It is an adventure, which you will never forget.
